Promoting sustainability through appreciation of Baden-Württemberg's nature and culture

Project funding organisation: Baden-Württemberg Foundation and Heidehof Foundation: Programme ‘Learning sustainability - children shape the future’

Project Responsibility: Prof. Dr. Gregor C. Falk, Monika Nethe

The project aims to give children between the ages of 10 and 12 an in-depth understanding of the natural and cultural features of the various landscapes in Baden-Württemberg. The regional values of the natural and cultural landscapes are conveyed in such a way that appreciation and thus sustainable behaviour are encouraged.
The idea is to design regional modules that represent the landscape areas of Baden-Württemberg in an exemplary manner. Materials will be developed for these building blocks that will enable on-site exploration. The analogue documents will be supplemented by accompanying digital materials. This innovative combination of on-site experiences and digital tools enables, for example, virtual journeys through geological time periods or shows old traditional conditions that have led to the creation of our rich cultural landscape.
